Spex Prism Library Analysis Toolkit (SPLAT)

This spectral archive and python-based toolkit allows users to access, manipulate, and visualize infrared spectral of low-mass stars, brown dwarfs, and other objects, as well as access atmosphere and evolutionary models, empirical relations, bibliographic information, and various online datasets. Spextool Reduction Video series

This video series provides step-by-step instructions for organizing and reducing SpeX data with the IDL-based Spextool package (Cushing et al. 2004), including prism and SXD data formats for stationary and moving point sources.

Introductory Classical Mechanics Video Series

This complete course in introductory classical mechanics (PHYS 1A /2A at UCSD) includes videos on core concepts and problem solving strategies with fully worked examples, as well as some optional advanced components. Topics span Kinematics, Forces, Energy, Momentum, and Rotation, plus core math skills. Cross-cutting concepts in Math and Science

As part of an NSF-funded Improving Undergraduate STEM Education (IUSE) program, we created a matrix of videos that connect concepts related to rates of change across the disciplines of mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology, and in current research. CERIC, which stands for Claim, Evidence, Reasoning, Implications, and Context, is a stuctured reading method developed by Dr. Genevive Bjorn to help students read the primary literature. Check out the training slides created by Adam for a graduate stellar astrophysics course in 2023, and read the methodology paper by Bjorn, Quaynor, & Burgasser (2022).

Growth Mindset Workshop Materials

Adam Burgasser has led dozens of workshops on the benefits of growth mindset for undergraduate and graduate students in Physics and Astronomy, based on the work of Dr. Carol Dweck and collaborators. This workshop package provides facilitation guides and slide decks for various workshop timeframes.
